“Stewardship”
If I were to tell you that Stewardship is not concerned with money because God doesn’t need your money…would you believe me? Makes sense, when you think about it: What is God going to do with a wad of 50 dollar bills? People have actually made videos of a Jesus figure (complete with long hair, robe and sandals) trying to order a burger at a fast-food joint. It makes one think about priorities.
Truth is…stewardship is about priorities. We tend to take care of that which is most important to us. Example: When I did auto body work I knew a guy who valued his 1963 Corvette more than anything (even his wife and family). You can guess how that turned out.
Jesus said it…’Where your treasure is…there your heart (real love) is also.’ There are a lot of important attractions in our lives: children, family, future, ‘toys’, leisure, sports, school,… Where is God in that mix? Truth…God doesn’t want your money…God wants you. That is because God holds you in the highest value…not your money!!!!
So, Stewardship is about everything in our lives.
Which brings me to next Tuesday…Election Day. As citizens of this wonderful experiment in democratic governance we have the gift of voice. Our vote is a treasure that offers each of us an opportunity to make the world a better place. Please value that gift and treat it with your best efforts of stewardship. Go Vote! Someone said that in a democracy, people get the government they deserve. Someone else said that an ignorant citizenry is the greatest threat to democracy. So…be good stewards of your citizenship: get informed and vote!
May God bless us all!
