“The Last Breakfast”
When I am camping, breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.  I love the quiet, cool stillness of the morning in the deep woods or beside a river or lake, and it is so calm and peaceful.  After a poor night’s sleep (I don’t sleep well on the trail), a cup of warm beverage, the crackling of the fire, and the smell of food cooking is all I need to bring some peace back to my soul.  That quiet, early morning time to reflect, before the day gets too crazy is important time for the soul.
I think some of that was going on when Peter and Jesus shared that ‘Last Breakfast’ on the shore.  We have all heard of the Last Supper but few have thought of Jesus’ last breakfast with his disciples…well, here it is!  The Last Supper represents Jesus’ final instructions to Peter and to his disciples.  At that event, He tells them he is leaving and he commissions them to go out and continue his work.  He repeats his simple invitation, the one that began their adventure together, “Follow Me” and a new chapter begins.
At this Last Breakfast Jesus re-commissions Peter, the disciples in attendance, and us. We are reminded of Jesus’ invitation to us…“Follow Me”.
Blessings,
Pastor Mike
