“Transition Update”Can you believe that it has been 16 months since Pastor Sandy left and I showed up? Can you believe that 12 months ago we decided to take the “Holy Cow! Congregational Assessment Tool (CAT)” survey? Where has the time gone? How far have we come?
This past week the Transition Leadership Team completed our new Ministry Site Profile. That is essential paperwork that gets us on track to begin the call process and set up a call committee. The TLT put good effort into our document even though there are questions for which we have no answers. Our biggest questions seem to be: can we afford and can we find a full-time pastor that will be a good fit for us?
Only God knows the answer to that question, but we will never know if we don’t do our work and start the process with sincere effort, un-quenchable hope, and good faith.
This coming Sunday, the TLT will present the MSP to our congregational council. Our council will decide the next step. You have an important role to play in this part of the process: pray!!! The prayers of all our people are essential if we are to listen to the leading of the Spirit. God sends the Holy Spirit to help us discern God’s will for our lives. During times of transition (like the one we are presently in) discernment is of utmost importance. We will measure future success on our ability to follow God’s will for our lives.
I know we all have an idea of what our congregation should be doing and where we should be headed. I know we have faithful, intelligent and dedicated people who put in many hours of hard work here. I also know that without God’s leading we will not survive…scratch that…without God’s leading we will not thrive.
Also…I’m going to challenge council to choose one goal for 2019. I’ll ask them to pick one area of ministry at Faith that is important to God and that is in need of a boost. We need to keep it at level where we can be successful. If you have thoughts about an area of ministry that you think God wants us to focus upon next year please give your favorite council member a call.
God bless you all!
