Ephesians 6:10-20
Paul puts closure on this letter with encouragement….(verse 10), “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.”
Then he says (twice) “Put on the full armor of God…”
We believe that Paul was chained to a Roman soldier 24-7.  He had first-hand knowledge of the armor that the soldiers wore.  So Paul used that image to stress the importance of the battle that the believers were now facing against a powerful opponent.  They were not battling earthly foes as much as they were battling “the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
When fighting against such powers believers needed to use all the power and armor that God provided them for this battle: truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the Spirit and prayer.
Paul intended this letter for the young churches that he had started in Asia Minor, but the battle still rages on today.  The Holy Spirit is still encouraging us to remain vigilant against the forces that would tear apart Christ’s church.  Let us remain faithful to the call to pray and live as Jesus disciples.  Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God!  Do! Do! Doodley Do!
