“Prayers for Renewal”
I received this email last week from ALPHA USA…
Dear Mike,
Will you join us in prayer August 21-23 as we kick off the fall?
We have people all around the country signing up to pray during our three days of continuous prayer. We already have nearly 60 different prayer gatherings around the country and more are signing up each day.
We are praying for God’s Kingdom to come in a powerful way within the church in the United States. We desire a fresh power from the Holy Spirit, a renewed passion to share our faith, and a deeper experience of Christian unity. We need God to breath renewed life into his church and renewed life into us.
Jesus said that “Anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!"
What a bold promise! We need to join together and ask for God’s Kingdom to come and his will to be done.

So who or what is ALPHA? (not the town next door with the cheese store). Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone's welcome. It runs in cafés, churches, universities, homes—you name it. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, a talk/presentation, and good conversation.
