​Job Description Faith Lutheran Church Junior Senior High Family Ministries Co-Director
The position of Junior Senior High Co-Director is to teach, encourage, inspire and nurture young people and the congregational family in the Christian Faith. Family Ministry duties are shared with the Elementary Co-Director. This position is allotted 20 hour per week.
 
Reports to: 
Pastor, Church Council and Youth and Family Ministries Committee (Y/F Partners).
 
Qualifications:
Training and/or experience working with youth. Demonstrated organizational, leadership, communication and computer skills. Ability to work independently while recognizing the importance of interaction with Co-Director and Y/F Partners. Faith in Jesus Christ and a basic understanding as well as agreement with Lutheran Theology.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, plan and schedule Wednesday School education for Junior Senior High participants. This includes curriculum development, coordination of volunteers and transportation and supply management.
  • Work with Pastor to develop, plan and coordinate Confirmation activities.
  • Develop and implement Vacation Bible School for Elementary youth in coordination with Elementary Co-Director.
  • Provide opportunities to understand the importance of missions through education and service projects. i. e. 30 hour famine, world vision.
  • Plan and coordinate attendance of Senior High student to the National Youth Gathering every three years.
  • Plan, develop and coordinate fund raising projects for pertinent activities.
  • Other activities as assigned and agreed upon by Y/F Partners.
 
Family Ministries Responsibilities:
  • Plan and coordinate programming based on fellowship, service, ministry and education.  i. e. snow tubing, game nights, service projects.
  • Fund raising activities for Family Ministry projects and outings. I.e. Annual Advent meal is the primary project for Family Ministries fund raising.
  • Plan and coordinate annual Advent Celebration with Co-Director (can recruit and supervise person or persons for this activity).
  • Participate in synodical and national meetings and continuing education opportunities as agreed upon by Y/F Partners.
  • Other duties as assigned and agreed upon by Y/F Partners.
 
Staff, Team and Committee Responsibilities:
  • Meet with Pastor and Elementary Co-Director for staff meetings on a regular basis.
  • Meet with Youth and Family Ministries Committee as scheduled.
  • Meet with Church Council annually or as requested by Council or Co-Director(s).
  • Work with Y/F Partners and Elementary Co-Director to develop and implement benchmark activities. i. e. The Lord’s Prayer, Ten Commandments, Books of the Bible, Apostles Creed.
  • Have an understanding of Faith Lutheran Policies and Procedures and the financial system and budgetary process utilized.
