Pastor’s Weekly Message: “Come and See” (John 1:35-51)
How many disciples does Jesus have in the world today?  The answer would be counted in the millions of believers.  That is absolutely amazing because Jesus started with two…that’s right…according to John’s gospel, Jesus began his mission with two followers.
And how did it grow from there?  I believe it grew from a simple invitation: ‘Come and See.’  Jesus invites those first two disciples to ‘come and you will see’ after they asked him where he is staying.  Jesus knew they weren’t interested in his accommodations, he knew they wanted to see if he was the real deal…the Messiah!!!  The story says they spent the day with him and were so convinced that they went out and brought others to see Jesus. ‘Come and See’ is a great summary of the evangelistic movement that Jesus’ disciples have been engaged in from the very beginning of this movement.
So, who invited you to ‘Come and See’ Jesus:  Was it a parent, a grandparent, a Sunday School teacher, a youth worker or camp counselor?  Whoever invited you to “Come and See’ Jesus, performed a very loving and caring deed for you.  As disciples of Jesus we are called to invite others to ‘Come and See’ Jesus.  How do we do that?  We can ask people to come to church, we can stand with people as they struggle, we can pray for them, we can be Jesus to people.
Want to hear more?  Sunday worship is coming… ‘Come and See.’
